2012 NL West Odds at Allpro. The National League West is one of the most hotly contended divisions in baseball. While it may not always be the most beautiful thing in the world, you can be sure that in the waning days of the season, you will have a dogfight between two or maybe even three teams a division and/ or Wild Card title. Since the 1995 season, where baseball expanded to six divisions and added the Wild Card, only two seasons have seen a team win at least 100 games, while four seasons have seen a team with 90 or less win's taking the title. No matter what, though, it's never boring.

Only two NL West teams have won a World Series title since 1995: the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2001 (who can forget their Game 7 victory over the Yankees in the bottom of the 9th inning), and the San Francisco Giants in 2010 (fact!). Only three other teams have won made it to the World Series as a member of the NL West: the San Diego Padres in 1998, the San Francisco Giants in 2002 and the Colorado Rockies in 2007.

To show you how tight the NL West has been, in the 16 seasons since the Wild Card was introduced, the Dodgers, Padres, Giants and Diamondbacks have each won the division four times. The Dodgers have titles in 1995, 2004, 2008 and 2009; the Padres in 1996, 1998, 2005, 2006; the Giants in 1997, 2000, 2003 and 2010; and the Arizona Diamondbacks in 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2007. The Dodgers have won the Wild Card in 1996 and 2006, while the Giants won it in 2002 (the year they made it to the World Series).

What about the Rockies? Well, don't feel too sorry for them. While they may have never won a division title outright, they have represented the NL as the Wild Card in 1996, 2007 and 2009. In terms of playoff success, the Giants have won the most series with five, while the Diamondbacks have won four, the Rockies have won three and the Padres and Dodgers have each won two. While the Dodgers may have six World Series to their name, they are the only NL West team to not have a World Series appearance since 1995.
