It is that time of the year again and football fans around the country are getting excited and checking out the NFC West lines and are ready for NFC West betting. The NFC West has been one of the weaker divisions in football over the last 10 years and it does not look like much is going to change this year with a good spread in the NFC West odds. The West should be better than they were last year, but still have a long ways to go until there is a team in the division capable of competing for a championship, but as they on any given Sunday who knows. Our NFC West lines will change daily as things develop and teams gel, so check back in the sportsbook for updated NFL odds. The following is some talk that's happening around the league about this division:
The San Francisco 49ers is one team that seems to be stuck in the doldrums. There are many Niner fans out there that are ready for a team who can actually compete with the rest of the league. Niner fans are expecting a lot out of their new coach Jim Harbaugh and would accept no less than a Super Bowl victory in the near future. The QB situation is still confusing with Alex Smith expected to take most snaps. Frank Gore and Vernon Davis are back to give the Niners a nice offensive combination but the true test will be on defense. The Niners will be better but .500 will still be a struggle. Vegas gives the Niners 60-1 odds at winning the title this year.
The 49ers vs Seahawks will happen in NFL Week 1 and NFL Week 16. The 49ers vs Cardinals will happen in NFL Week 11 and NFL Week 14. The 49ers vs Rams will happen in NFL Week 13 and NFL Week 17.
In Seattle, the Seahawks are hoping that letting Matt Hasslebeck go is not going to hurt their chances of winning. Taveras Jackson is going to get his shot at QB and Peter Carroll is dreaming of going back to the playoffs for consecutive seasons. He should probably keep dreaming because the Seahawks really do not have much of a chance on the field. This year should be a downer and new receiver Sydney Rice might be hoping for a way out of town by the trade deadline. Vegas give the Seahawks 85-1 odds at winning the title this year.
One of the two teams that might have a good chance at winning the division this year is the St. Louis Rams. While many people in St. Louis are wondering if the Rams will stay in town, the others in St. Louis are wondering if Sam Bradford is going to show improvement on a great rookie year. Coach Steve Spagnuolo has a good young team to work with and one of the better young QBs in the league. Teaming Bradford up with Stephen Jackson and a mix of new wideouts might just give the Rams the most potent attack in the division. A young defense built around Chris Long will keep many offenses guessing this year. Vegas odds for the Rams to win the title this year are 45-1.
The Rams vs Cardinals will happen in NFL Week 9 and NFL Week 13. The Rams vs Seahawks will happen in NFL Week 11 and NFL Week 14.
The other team in the division that is garnering a lot of chatter is the Arizona Cardinals. After trading for Kevin Kolb, there are many calling him the "Savior of Arizona". Kolb will have one of the best receivers in the league to throw to in Larry Fitzgerald. There might not be any receivers with all the abilities that Fitzgerald possesses. If he and Kolb can get on the same page early, there is no telling what they might be able to do. The running game took a hit when second pick Ryan Williams went down with an injury giving must carries this year to Beanie Wells. Vegas gives the Cardinals 65-1 odds at winning the title.
The Seahawks vs Cardinals will happen in NFL Week 3 and NFL Week 17.
