The most influential Professional Football League in Italy is known as Serie A. Top Teams

The top three most recognized teams are AC Milan, Juventus and Internazionale. These three teams are also the founding members of G-14, a conglomeration of Europe’s top football clubs. Among these AC Milan has won more international football titles than any other team in Europe. Although, AC Milan may be the winner of many competitions, but the diversity and the competition of Italian football league is evident by the fact that Jeventus and Internazionale also boast other notable achievements which surpasses AC Milan. For example, Juventus has won Serie A, a mind-boggling 27 times as compared to Internazionale and Ac Milan, who won 18 and 17 times, respectively. As for Internazionale, also known as Inter Milan, it has recently dominated its arch rivals by winning Serie A five times in a row, since 2005.

Format

The league is played from August to June whereby every team plays 38 matches on home-and-away basis. The bottom three teams are automatically relegated to Serie B. Due to the caliber of Serie A competition, the top four teams in a calendar year are promoted to UEFA Champions League while the following three teams qualify for UEFA Europa League tournament.
